No more sublimit on the Embrace continuing care benefit for those Embrace policies with RLI as underwriter (see Embrace has a new insurance partner – A+ rated RLI Corp).

Yesterday, I talked about cleaning up some niggling things about the Embrace Pet Insurance product, specifically the Embrace dental illness coverage.

Today, we talk about the old Embrace continuing care sublimit of 25% of the annual limit in the second year of the condition.

I’ve never liked the sublimit but it was something that Lloyd’s felt strongly about so that is what we offered. Now that we have some claims experience under our belts, RLI agreed with us that we could remove the sublimit if we added a lifetime limit of $50,000, so we agreed – woohoo!

I have a real soft spot for Westies from my childhood when we had a Labrador called Apple and a Westie called Blossom.

Those two would get up to no good, with their best trick being Apple opening the fridge door and dragging over a stool and Blossom getting up and into the fridge to root out the good stuff for both to share on the floor. So cleverly naughty! Us young children could not hope to compete with such audacity.

Apple and Blossom were best buddies and Apple even produced milk to help Blossom out when she had 6 overwhelmingly hungry puppies. Good memories…

But I digress.

Have you considered buying a flight insurance policy, but figured the odds of being in a plane crash were so remote that you did not need it? As passengers on a recent flight from Washington D.C. found out, there is more than one way for injuries to occur on a flight, which means there is more than one reason to buy flight insurance.

The flight in question was a United Airlines flight headed for Los Angeles. Around the halfway point of the flight, severe weather lead to a bout with some rather extreme turbulence, causing injuries to passengers who were moving about the plane and others who were not buckled in.

In all, 21 passengers suffered injuries from the incident.
