If you have problems with your garage door then you should check if the springs or other parts need garage door adjustments or whether they should be replaced. If you do not replace a spring, then you’ll also replace the pair because they are both the same amount of work. The other will be replaced soon, so it is best to do only two that are in a pair. Make sure the door is set to be opened before you start or work on all the work. Garage doors are heavy and may come down if you do not use the proper locking and blocking.

We recently had a question on the Embrace Facebook pageabout a bald spot onadog:

Q: It turns out that a tiny bald spot on my daughters dog is likely a result of the rabies vaccine. She may or may not grow her hair back. The vet doesnt think she should get rabies vaccines again. Anybody know how to regrow hair or anybody have a dog regrow hair after this happened to them?

Since Im not a veterinarian, I turned to Dr Rex Riggs, one of our veterinary advisors, for help with this question.

A: Rarely you can get a small area of alopecia in the area of where the rabies vaccine was given. You dont need to treat them, as they are just cosmetic.

Losing a friend or relative is extremely hard. Losing a loved one while they are travelling abroad is even harder. According to the U.S. State Department, over 6,000 Americans die overseas each year. How can the U.S. State Department help? How can Medical evacuation insurance assist?

With medical evacuation insurance you will be able to evacuate a seriously ill relative to medical facilities abroad, or bring them home to be treated in the US. If the worst happens, medical repatriation insurance assists you with returning the person’s remains to their home country.

US consular offices abroad can also assist in giving notification to the next-of-kin, confirming the identity of the person and providing information about how to deal with the legal process abroad. T

Today, we have a guest post from Dr. Rex Riggs on the topic of allergies. Ironically, Dr. Riggs is allergic to cats! But he does talk about how allergies happen and what can be done about them. Dr. Rex Riggs is the owner of Best Friends Veterinary Hospital in Powell, Ohio. He is a veterinarian, and an Advisory Board member of Embrace Pet Insurance.

Allergies. I hate allergies. I have tree pollen allergies in the spring. I have grass allergies in the summer and house dust mite allergies all winter long. To cap it all off, I have cat allergies all year long! Oh well, it is what it is.

And What Exactly Are Allergies?

Allergies are bad for everyone including our pets.

First we need to define just what an allergy is.

The Problem of Air Rage

Apr 30, 2011

Air rage is an all-too-common experience on some flights today. The stress of a long flight, exhaustion and irritation can make some people violent towards cabin crew and other passengers. Why does air rage happen?

Air rage is psychological or physical violence towards flight attendants or other passengers on the flight. Air rage can be brought on by many factors. The passenger in question may have been frustrated by delays and missed connecting flights, or exhausted due to lack of sleep. Sometimes the behavior of other passengers can push an angry person over the edge. In other cases, the passenger is under the influence of alcohol.

Sometimes cabin crew are afraid for their safety or that of the passengers and must land somewhere other than the intended destination.

Safe Travel to Festivals Abroad

Apr 27, 2011

Summer’s around the corner and thoughts turn to outdoor festivals – music, food, dancing and socializing under the sun. And when you want to travel further afield for your festival fix, head to Europe, Canada, South America and many other destinations that now feature summer festivals. How can you make sure your festival trip is safe and fun?

Buy travel medical insurance that fully protects you when you travel abroad. Your domestic health insurance probably won’t help you in Spain, or Montreal. Consider a plan including trip cancellation insurance in case you are unable to fly and lose the money you paid for tickets, or have to miss a day of the festival.

Leave your valuables in a safe place, or better still, at home. When

Peace of Mind For Frequent Flyers

Apr 20, 2011

Do you fly regularly for business? Do you take a lot of flights to visit family members or enjoy vacations in the US and abroad? No matter how many times you fly, worries creep into your mind about your safety and the safety of the plane. Put your mind at rest with flight insurance.

A flight insurance plan offers you and your family compensation for accidental death, dismemberment or loss of sight that occurs as a result of an accident on a commercial airline. While you may not want to contemplate the worst happening, you are at least covered in the highly unlikely event of an accident.

You are more likely to experience less dramatic problems – lost or stolen baggage or baggage that doesn’t land when you do. Fli
