The number of new cars being produced and sold in the UK has risen for the fifth month in a row, car insurance policyholders may be interested to discover.
New figures published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) have shown a growth of 90.2 per cent in the number of cars manufactured during the last month, when compared to 2009′s records.
The market in both the UK and overseas has also risen, with 27.6 per cent of output going to the domestic market in the first three months of 2010, car insurance policyholders have been told.
Paul Everitt, chief executive of the SMMT, described the rise as “strong growth” and stated that the country’s production is continuing to make progress.
He stated: “Headline figures highlight the scale of challenges faced this time last year but also demonstrate a steady improvement in demand in home and export markets.”
Car insurance policyholders were recently advised to take steps to prepare their vehicles for the summer by Peter Rodger, chief examiner of the Institute of Advanced Motorists.

After Toyota released a statement that they will be recalling 8 million cars worldwide due to a faulty part, State Farm released a statement that way back in late 2007, they had noticed a trend and informed the NHTSA – National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of a possible problem with Toyota vehicles. MetLife Auto and Home has added the functionality of an Identity Theft Service to help protect their customers’ from tax related identity theft. The program is made available to its customers from states where such a service is permitted by regulators, to protect them from identity theft with respect to their vehicles and homes at no extra cost.
