Does your dad know best when it comes to advice about cars?

A recent survey by tyre retailer ATS Euromaster suggests that one in four motorists, and it doesn’t say how old they are or whether they are male or female drivers, will turn to dad for advice if they have a motoring problem.

Hmmm! Lucky you if you’ve got such a dad.

I remember a time when my dad had taken me and my little sister on a trip to visit our granny in Yeovil. He

A new idea arising in the insurance industry is the development of car insurance policies designed specifically for women drivers. Previously niche car insurance was specific to classic or sports car owners but companies have shown interest in women only insurance policies.

Looking at recent insurance company advertising has shown that more and more insurers are offering car insurance specifically for women. These companies appear to be brand new but are actually some of the UK’s most popular insurers. They have embraced the idea of car insurance for women and have created new brands catering to females. We may all be a little too used to jokes about women drivers – but it’s no surprise that they exist when in the 50’s, right up until the early 70s, cars were being sold by very sexist advertising.

We can laugh at it now, but the Daimler 104 , which had electric windows so that women didn’t have to ruin their nails, and simplified gears so that we wouldn’t get confused behind the wheel, did exist.

As did a warning film about women drivers produced by the British government, a young lady in an advert who marvelled at the Morris Mini Cooper’s winding windows cheerfully stating “I like the way it goes up and down!”, and the Cortina/Reliant Scimitar hybrid’s slogan “Men! Let There Be No Sle

Van insurance is slightly more complicated that conventional car insurance not only because you are insuring a different kind of vehicle but also because of the usage of the van itself. The British Medical Association has suggested strict ban against smoking while driving. The influential reputation of BMA might help the UK government and its other counterparts to pass the new legislation to prevent smoke driving.

Such drivers recall ban on smoking as “unenforceable” as the drivers with a habit of smoking might not be able to control on their habit while travelling especially on long journey. The people who cannot stop their smoking habit suddenly while driving can use exhaust pipe on the car inside rather than using smoke cigarettes.

Some drivers favour this potential ban as it will reduce distraction while driving. Fur

Jul 08, 2011

There was once a time when finding motorhome insurance in Northern Ireland was incredibly difficult. There was a distinct lack of insurers available in the area, and even fewer UK-based insurers that would offer cover for this part of the world. But, this isn’t the case anymore, and with peace came an influx of Northern Ireland insurance providers that would happily offer cover for your motorhome.

The same considerations need to be given for insurance in this area as they do for insurance in any other. You
