Mark Webber sealed his third Grand Prix win in Spain on Sunday (May 9th), outpacing the rest of the pack from start to finish at the Circuit de Catalunya.

After taking a fantastic pole in Saturday’s qualifying, the Australian never looked back, proving unbeatable in his Red Bull, leaving teammate Sebastian Vettel to settle for third.

Fernando Alonso gave the Spanish crowds something to cheer with second place, after Lewis Hamilton crashed out two laps from home when his left front tyre deflated.

Webber said he was “absolutely rapped” to add Spain to his triumphs in Germany and Brazil last year.

“The team have been incredible this week, getting the cars ready, long, long nights for the guys, an incredible amount of effort at the factory,” he added.

“It was a fantastic result and I am absolutely thrilled.”

The result leaves Britain’s Jenson Button still leading the driver’s championship by three points as the teams head to Monaco for next week’s Grand Prix, widely seen as the pinnacle of the Formula One season.

May 08, 2010

Car insurance policyholders are being affected by a shortage of windscreens which has occurred as a result of the high demand for replacement glass at the beginning of the year.

This is according to Auto Windscreens, which reports that glazing companies throughout the UK are struggling to get hold of parts, leading to long delays for car insurance policyholders looking to get their windows replaced.

Particularly affected are owners of Vauxhall Zafiras, Astras and Vectras, VW Passats and Golfs, and Audi A4s.

Auto Windscreens has, as a result, increased production of glass by more than 40 per cent at its own factory to more than 600 windscreens a day.

“It’s unusual to have a national shortage of windscreens and we’ve certainly not come across it before,” said Nigel Davies, sales and marketing director at the company.

The firm recently reported that the introduction of new technology had caused windscreen replacement costs to rise by as much as 68 per cent in ten years.
