The Conservative Party has announced its manifesto ahead of the upcoming general election and promised to crack down on road works if voted into power.
With this, the party said it would introduce lane rental for some of the UK?s busiest roads, while also revealing plans to hand more powers to local councils to ease congestion.
The Tories revealed it would bring in a lorry road user charge, so foreign lorries pay a “fair share of tax”, which could please some motor insurance customers.
A national car recharging network was also included in the manifesto, as the party wants to support the shift to green cars.
Car insurance customers may also be interested in the Tories’ extra emphasis placed on the concerns of cyclists.
The manifesto stated: “Improving our transport system is vital for our quality of life, our environment and our economic competitiveness.”
All the major three parties have now published their manifestos ahead of the election on May 6th.
